FlavaPuff Music

FlavaPuff Music was a joint venture project I initiated with Flavapuff, LLC, a Florida-based maker of snacks, from 2007 until 2011.  They sold a variety of snack items (cheese puffs, cotton candy, caramel corn, popcorn, etc.) that were distributed nationwide.  They were also a leading white label provider of snacks under the CVS, Walgreens, Dollar General, and Rite Aid brands.

At the time, Starbucks and other companies were starting to provide music download links on their products.  I pitched most of the major candy makers on creating a similar service, and Flavapuff signed on.

Because I ran the Audio Addiction music library, I had an extensive network of composers, songwriters, and producers to provide songs.  It was a lot of work, especially having to negotiate with almost a dozen attorneys.

It was quite a project to manage, from sourcing and getting all the music cleared, to creating a website and setting up accounting for managing royalties for all composers.

Initially, the project met with considerable success, but unfortunately, sales petered off, as selling music from product promotions became somewhat of a fad.  Music consumers were moving on to iTunes and other download services.

The project was not a big success in the end, but I was proud to have created this joint venture.

The following screenshot from the website shows some of the artists featured.  I think there were over 100 artists by the time the promotion ended.
